job description - Conflict Mitigation And Community Policing


  • The partner(s), in coordination with USIP, will implement several assessments and capacity building workshops in the project states.  
  • These workshops will consist of specific trainings for the NPF and the NSCDC.

The goal of these workshops is to: 

  • Improve law enforcement response to conflict;
  • Improve NPF and NSCDC engagement and communication with communities affected by conflict; and,
  • Improve presence of law enforcement in communities affected by conflict.

USIP plans to meet the goals of these workshops through the following activities:

 Assessment/mapping

  •  Human rights assessment of NPF/NSCDC in each of the selected States
  •  Community engagement mapping of NPF/NSCDC in each of the selected States
  •  Service delivery mapping of NPF/NSCDC in each of the selected States, including a recommendations report

 Capacity building activities/workshop

  •  Nine conflict prevention or resolution trainings per state
  •  Three community engagement trainings per state
  •  Two service delivery trainings per state

 Community engagement activities

  •  Eight meetings as part of mapping
  • Eight supported engagements between NPF/NSCDC and communities
  • The local partner organization will provide on-the-ground support to project stakeholders’ efforts to implement the action plan, support the project’ monitoring and evaluation requirements and disseminate lessons learned and project impact stories.
  • USIP anticipates a maximum of 50 participants at each project event (e.g., meetings, action plan activities, technical trainings). Expected logistical tasks necessary to carry out the project deliverables include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Securing the venue and identifying potential participants;
  • Arranging food and beverages for participants during project events;
  • Coordinating local transportation for participants, facilitators, and staff;
  • Sub-contracting to hire facilitators, interpretation company, etc. as needed;
  • Providing feedback to USIP on agenda for events;
  • Providing feedback to USIP on substance of events;
  • Providing detailed notetaking throughout the project events; and,
  • Providing feedback on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tools and capturing all M&E requirements during events.
