job description - Head Finance & Strategy

  • To ensure efficiency in the business operations of the business through the provision of effective corporate support services covering the management of financial and administrative systems, to contribute to the delivery of the company's overall commercial objectives.
  • The incumbent also plays a key role in a range of non-core business areas including office financial planning and control, management support systems, and procurements.
  • This individual will also be responsible for overseeing the Investment and Asset Management of the organization to guarantee risk-adjusted returns for investors and stakeholders with a focus on long-term investments in quality infrastructure projects.

Fund& Financial Control:

  • Prepare periodic(i.e. quarterly, yearly, etc.)management accounts, financial projections, and other relevant financial reports, in consultation with the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, for presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Handle the preparation of operating budgets and monitor to ensure that approved financial operating standards, procedures, and controls in the deployment and utilization of resources are strictly adhered to in business operations.
  • Provide guidance and advice on financial management decisions, especially with regard to the organization’s short, medium, and long-term cash, funding, risk situation, financial accounting, cost savings, revenue assurance, and returns on investment imperatives of the business.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support and drive efficiency in business operations.

Valuation & Investor Relations:

  • Coordinate evaluations by the appointed valuers and ensure proper and detailed screening of investment applications to determine their accurate valuation.
  • Create and manage a database of valuation parameters across all industries to quicken the process of buy-side analysis and brown-field negotiations
  • Prepare quarterly updates using the Valuers spreadsheet and circulate it to investors
  • Oversee investment due diligence alongside the documentation of the due diligence(including review of contracts, preparation of budgets, gathering of consultants)process and detailed screening of investment applications to determine their accurate evaluation.
  • Prepare total portfolio model for funds in anticipation of capital calls and investments.
  • Acts as point person for credit proposals and deals in the market, including responding effectively to questions from Risk as well as Investors.
  • Independently interact and collaborate with all stakeholders.

Other Duties:

  • Support of internal and external counsel, ensure that appropriate legal documentation is efficiently and successfully concluded in line with approvals to facilitate timely financial close(i.e., first disbursement)
  • Conducting reviews to ensure that all legal, commercial, and financial matters are effectively addressed between the signing and closing of any investment transaction with a client

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or any related fields (with a minimum of a Second Class Upper Degree).
  • Certified Financial Analyst certification or CFA Level II assessment passed.
  • Associate member of any Professional accounting body (ICAN, ACCA, CIS, etc.)
  • Master’s Degree in Finance or MBA, will be preferred.
  • At least 6 years of post-graduate finance/banking experience, gained mainly within a Leveraged Finance context or professional services environment.
  • Experience in the Valuation of a top-tier consulting firm is an added advantage.
