job description - Research and Policy Specialist
- Monitor policy cycles across sectors, identifying opportunities for policy and legislative engagement on key issues affecting urban governance, environmental justice, gender, human rights and civic space.
- Track and analyse policy developments, including legislation and regulations related to the organisation's thematic/focal areas and priorities ensuring that empirical information generated over time is used to inform public advocacy, litigation, campaigns, blog posts and talking points.
- Research and communicate trends on relevant policy developments, social justice and topical issues around the organisation's thematic priorities.
- Consulting with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and ensure inclusion of relevant factors using an effective combination of advocacy, education, community organising, policy development, and coalition leadership.
- Assist in resource mobilisation initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Law, Statistics, International Development, Public Administration or related fields.
- Specialised experience in similar roles may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
- Very strong writing and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrable evidence of research capabilities.
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience.
